Your adventure begins with a scenic drive to Kibale Forest, a tropical rainforest renowned as the primate capital of the world, with 13 species of primates. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the changing landscapes and stop for lunch. On arrival, settle into your lodge and unwind. If time and energy allow, you can take an optional guided walk in the nearby community to stretch your legs and learn more about local life.
After breakfast, head for a briefing before your chimpanzee tracking experience in Kibale Forest. Chimps, our closest relatives, are among the most endangered primates. The forest is also home to other primates like black-and-white colobus, L’Hoest’s monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and bush babies. Keep an eye out for birds like the green-breasted pitta and crowned eagle, and even mammals like forest elephants. After the trek, you'll drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park for an afternoon game drive in the savannah.
After breakfast, you will go for a game drive - most likely to the Kasenyi plains - which is a famous ground for lions, African elephants, spotted hyenas, and many antelope species including Uganda kobs. Return to the lodge for lunch or have a packed lunch. Late in the afternoon, have a boat cruise on the famous Kazinga Channel. This water body is known for being a catchment for Nile crocodiles, hippos, African elephants, Cape buffalos, and many waterbirds including great white pelicans and great cormorants.
After breakfast, drive through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for its rare tree-climbing lions often seen lounging in fig trees. Keep your eyes peeled for other wildlife like buffaloes, elephants, and antelopes. After a game drive in this unique area, continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Arrive in the evening and settle into your lodge, surrounded by the dense rainforest.
Start your day with an early breakfast, then head to the park headquarters for a briefing on the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. With rangers leading the way, you’ll begin your trek through the dense rainforest in search of a gorilla family. Trekking can take 2 to 7 hours depending on their location, so good fitness is recommended. Weather is unpredictable, so carry boots and a raincoat. Porters are available at a small fee to help with your backpack. After the unforgettable encounter, return to the lodge for a late lunch or enjoy your packed lunch in the forest.
Drive through scenic landscapes, plantations, and local farms as you head to Lake Mburo National Park. Along the way, visit a Cultural Museum showcasing the traditional lifestyle of the local communities. Enjoy lunch or a picnic at a local restaurant en route. Arrive at the park in the afternoon and later head out for an evening game drive, where you may spot zebras, impalas, giraffes, and other wildlife as the sun sets over the savannah.
After an early breakfast, enjoy a guided walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park, offering a close-up experience with wildlife like zebras, impalas, and giraffes on foot. After the walk, begin your drive back to Entebbe, with a stop at the Equator line for photos and souvenirs. Enjoy lunch en route and continue to the airport, arriving in the afternoon for your onward flight.
